Redo Group: Rapid growth without increasing accounting staff

What began in 1990 with a food truck in Potsdam has developed into an impressive provider in the catering industry. Today, the Redo Group employs around 200 people across 23 locations. It comprises restaurants with diverse concepts in Berlin, Potsdam, and Brandenburg, catering for events of all sizes, unique event venues, its own rentable food trucks, professional consulting for the catering industry, and an in-house ice cream factory producing handmade ice cream.

One of the key building blocks for efficiently managing this dynamic growth was—and still is—digital invoice processing and accounting with cisbox.

Manual processes slowed down growth

Before the implementation of cisbox, the day-to-day work at the Redo Group was dominated by manual, paper-based processes in invoice handling. All incoming invoices had to be laboriously scanned and then manually entered into Excel spreadsheets. With the company’s rapid growth, this process was increasingly reaching its limits. Management had to choose between hiring additional staff or digitalizing the processes. As a company that regards digitalization as a core principle, the decision was made in favor of a digital solution.

Flexibility and efficiency thanks to centralized, digital processing

The introduction of cisbox enabled the Redo Group to digitalize and automate not only the entire invoice processing but also the entire accounting process. The central availability of all data from any location supported the company’s own concept of flexible working.

Thanks to cisbox, a single person is now responsible for all incoming invoices and accounting. Without the software, it would have been necessary to hire at least two additional people.

Sabine Maguhn, authorized signatory at the Redo Group, is “completely satisfied” and “loves cisbox”. Another decisive factor in choosing cisbox was the ability to eliminate the physical filing of invoices.

From accounting to strategic controlling

Taking full advantage of the possibilities offered by cisbox, an unexpected benefit arose in the area of price analysis: the Redo Group recognized the possibilities of using the detailed data to analyze purchase prices. This enabled the transition from pure accounting to active controlling. The ability to quickly find invoices, analyze sales in detail, and track price trends at item level as well as compare prices between suppliers proved to be extremely valuable in analyzing the market and optimizing purchasing conditions.

The implementation of cisbox lasted from March to June 2016. When asked whether this effort was worth it, Maguhn replies firmly: “Yes, absolutely.”
